Blake Rea is a cinematographer and designer based in Charlotte, North Carolina. His fields of expertise include film direction, cinematography, film editing, color grading and branding as well as marketing consulting. Blake started his own business in 2008 in Charlotte. He has a true passion for creating videos with high quality images and narrative story telling techniques. In all his projects he is always creative, receptive to new ideas and passionate about what he is doing. Moreover Blake is competent at managing and delivering projects to specification, no matter how complex the projects are. He is experienced in working in production teams or working independently as a self-shooting video producer and editor.
As well as being a filmmaker in Charlotte and across the USA, Blake has gained filming experience throughout Europe. Along the way he has produced a fair bit of videos, being featured on HBO, Transworld Skateboarding, Keller Williams Realty, Vevo and featuring such talents as A-Trak, Flosstradamus, Dirty South, Paul Oakenfold, Green Lantern, R3hab, Bruce Leaf, Jason Wiggz and Dr R-Wonz. His key strengths are narrative film direction, cinematography, camera operation, film editing and live event videography.
Blake is highly-practised and skilled in Final Cut Pro X, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Products. He is experienced in working with a wide variety of cameras such as Blackmagic Cinema Cameras, shooting in 4k and 1080p raw. Moreover he uses quality lenses and equipment such as camera cranes, dolly systems, various screens (green/black/white screens).
From an early age, Blake Rea has always been deeply interested in videography and video production. He got his first VHS video camera at the age of 6 and started editing on tape decks and TVs until computer editing was standardized. He started using Final Cut Express on Power Mac Computers all the way up until Final Cut Pro X. Filming became a big part of his life. When not busy with producing videos Blake gains information about film studies, the art of cinema, camera technology and cinematography techniques. He received certifications in various fields of filmmaking such as Video Journalism Storytelling Techniques, Documentary Editing with Final Cut Pro X or Lighting Design For Video Production.
